The Falls (1980) is a 3-hour mockumentary directed by Peter Greenaway. The films is presented as 92 excerpts from a larger series of case studies of individuals following what is referred to as the Violent Unknown Event. In the case of this film, Greenaway is presenting only the individuals whose names begin with the letters f-a-l-l.
The Falls is the first film screening in relation to the Foreign Bodies program. It is selected for it's handling of ‘patient’ accounts (whether first person, translated, or anonymous), and themes of conspiracy, anthropomorphism, and surveillance. As this is a long film, we will only screen a portion of the ‘case studies’ and offer beverages.
